Preparing Meals for the House

Our families greatly appreciate all those who donate or prepare home cooked meals for them during their stay at the House. If you choose to volunteer this way, please review this information and submit your group information on-line. Your group’s enjoyment of this special event will certainly be reflected in the pleasure it brings to our families.

Things to Know:
• Our kitchens are fully equipped with all the serving and preparation dishes you will need, as well as microwaves, stoves, refrigerators, and ovens (four of each). A gas grill is available during nice weather.
• Food may be prepared at home and brought or prepared here.
• Breakfasts, brunches or dinners are the best meals to serve because families are usually gone during the day. Breakfast can be served between 8:30 and 10:30 and dinner can be served between 5:30 and 6:30. Buffet style serving is preferred.
• You need not provide beverages, although some groups prefer to provide rolls of quarters for our beverage machines.
• Plan to serve 40-45 (call 24 hours in advance to learn of any dramatic shifts in occupancy).
• Your group is responsible for preparation clean-up, and leftover storage.
• Call to confirm, preferably 48 hours before the meal.

To respect the sometimes vulnerable and stressful times our families are facing, we ask that you do your best to meet these criteria. Together, we will share our families’ comfort and well-being as our utmost concern.
