Volunteer Description
PURPOSE: To assist House staff with daily activities at the RMH. To help provide a supportive environment for families staying at the Ronald McDonald House.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Greet families and visitors.
2. Help orient families to the RMH.
3. Interact with and assist families.
4. Light housekeeping tasks, organizing, cleaning rooms.
5. Drive House shuttle van for family & House errands.
6. Baking and/or cooking opportunities.
7. Receive and put away donations.
8. Special event planning and assistance, as needed.
9. Contact the RMH office if unable to cover the scheduled shift.
QUALIFICATIONS
1. Positive, friendly attitude.
2. Good listener.
3. Ability to maintain confidentiality.
4. Reliable.
5. Age 16 minimum.
TRAINING: Each volunteer will receive an orientation at the House.
TIME COMMITMENT: Volunteers at the RMH are scheduled for a three-hour shift each week. Four shifts are available: 9:00 a.m. to noon; noon to 3:00 p.m.; 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.; and, 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Volunteers are needed seven days a week. A six-month or semester commitment is needed. Reliable attendance is vital.
Please note: Volunteers cannot come to the RMH when they have communicable illnesses such as colds, strep throat, fever blisters, flu, chicken pox, measles, and pink eye (conjunctivitis). Children with suppressed immune systems may be staying at the House and communicable diseases can be life threatening for them.
